Opening Workbook According to Tableau this issue occurs due to the Permissions are preventing Tableau from creating necessary temporary folders, and this error will be logged in the log.txt: GenerateTempDirectory: failed to create subdirectory in 'C:\Users\user>\AppData\Local\Temp\TableauTemp' Tableau's Resolution Work with your IT team to grant your user account appropriate permissions to the subdirectory specified in the error log. My Resolution This issue occurred to me when I was trying to open Tableau Hyper workbook with 10.5 version which doesn't support opening the Workbooks created with the version Tableau 2019. So I had to uninstall Tableau 10.5 and made Tableau 2019 as default application to open Tableau, and the issue never occurred.
