Change Weekday Abbreviations in Tableau Week day abbreviations using either three-letter abbreviations (Jan, Feb, Mar, etc.) or one-letter abbreviations (for example, M, T, W, etc.) How to display month or week day abbreviations using either three-letter abbreviations ( Jan, Feb, Mar, etc.) or one-letter abbreviations (for example, M, T, W , etc.). Follow the steps below: Drag the Date dimension (as a discrete field) to the view and choose  Month  or  Weekday .  Right-click the date dimension or the header in the view and select  Format .  In the Header section, select  Abbreviation  or  First Letter  in the "Date" menu. 

Add a time of the last data refresh time stamp to a view in a Tableau. This can be achieved in two ways. 1: Add the time stamp to the top of the view Open the workbook that contains the dashboard in Tableau Desktop, and then navigate to the sheet for which you want to display the time of the last data refresh. Select  Worksheet  >  Show Title . Double-click the title. In the Edit Title dialog box, select  Insert  >  Data Update Time , and then click  OK . Add any field to the filter shelf and leave all selections blank and click  OK . Save the modifications. As you change the size and placement of items inside a container, other container items automatically adjust. Layout container types A horizontal layout container resizes the width of the views and objects it contains; a vertical layout container adjusts height. Horizontal layout container The two views below are arranged in a horizontal layout container.   Vertical layout container The three views below are stacked in a vertical layout container.   Add a layout container Under   Objects   on the Dashboard pane, select   Horizontal   or   Vertical . Drag the container to the dashboard. Add views and objects to the layout container.

Error "undefined binding" in Tableau Extract update Issue This issue occurs when there is a join between two or more tables for the extract and it also displays red exclamation mark on the join. Undefined binding Unable to create extract Resolution Try one of the following workarounds: Go to the Datsource tab and click on the the  Right click on the table s join in the connection pane. Select Remove Drag the tables from connection again and select the join columns and join type. Set up the cross-database join between just two tables on the  Data Source  tab.  Click on the tab for  Sheet 1  to create the initial extract.  After the extract has been created, go back to the  Data Source  tab to add the third table if you would like to add to the join. Cause The issue I faced was due to join condition was not finding the columns used in the join. by deleting and recreating the joins for the existing extract it worked.

Extract Filters and Data source filters in Tableau Extract Filter: As the name implies extract filters are used to filter out the data while creating the extract. Extract Filters are pre condition filters before Extract creation. Data Source Filters:  Data source filters won’t change to the volume data and size of the extract. Instead data source filters applies the filters to the background query when we use any of the dimensions or measures in the visualizations. Data Source Filters are post Condition filters while displaying the data in the Visualizations (applies to the query while pulling the data from extract) and won’t apply during the extract creation .   If you apply Extract filters and Data source filters together, Data source filters overwrite the extract filters.
